Clay shooting is one of the most popular outdoor sports in the UK, it's a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of age and physical ability. Men, women and youngsters compete together on equal terms making it ideal as a family activity. Parents and youngsters can go shooting together, spending time outdoors, enjoying a shared challenge and bit of friendly rivalry.
Clay shooting is a friendly, sociable and welcoming sport, it's safe, exciting, challenging and fun. Hitting the target requires skill, timing and hand-eye coordination, but there's nothing quite like the satisfying feeling of smashing a clay to pieces when you pull the trigger.
The majority enjoy shooting as a hobby on an informal basis but there are opportunities to shoot local registered competitions, progressing to county, regional and even international events. Shooting really is one of the few sports where you can participate at any level and could find yourself shooting alongside a complete beginner or a world champion.
Clay Pigeon Shooting has several different forms called disciplines, which can be divided into three main groups; Sporting, Trap and Skeet. Whatever your chosen discipline(s), Cockett Farm provides an extensive all round facility, offering seven different disciplines across all of these main groups. To ensure a level playing field and to enable everyone to practice on the targets that they will meet in competition, some disciplines require targets to be set to a stringent set of regulations. Where this is the case, we take pride in setting targets to the individual discipline specifications.
