The thrill of smashing your first clay gives you a real buzz and leaves a lasting impression, making clay shooting a truly memorable experience. It couldn't be easier to experience clay shooting and discover for yourself just how much fun it is, just give us a call!
Clay shooting is always a popular activity for stag & hen parties but it's also ideal for many other occasions such as team building, corporate entertainment or a rewarding day out for your staff. You won't need any special clothing or equipment, please remember though that this is an outdoor activity that takes place in all weathers so please dress appropriately.
On the day your instructor will do an on range briefing which will introduce you to the equipment you will be using. Typically this will be a double-barrelled shotgun and low-recoil ammunition. You will also be issued with some basic safety gear - eye and ear protection. Shooting is a very safe sport and we keep it that way by making safety a priority.
The instructor will show you how to hold the gun, ensure the stock is correctly positioned in your shoulder and that your eye is looking along the "rib". They will also look after loading and unloading the gun for you, so you can concentrate on smashing the targets.
Quality & Experience of your instructor. All Cockett Farm instructors have many years of coaching and competitive clay shooting experience, each having competed at a minimum of county level. For most bookings you will be hosted by one of our resident coaching pros but for larger bookings or at particularly busy times we may bring in additional coaches.
Small Groups & 1 to 1 Instruction - we allow a maximum of 8 guests per instructor. Within this group, there will only be one person shooting at once, ensuring each individual receives quality one to one instruction.
Top of the Range Equipment - We want you to enjoy yourself, have fun and come back again so we only use the best equipment. Our instruction guns are mostly Browning or Miroku and the ammunition supplier for our preferred low recoil cartridges even has a royal warrant!
Variety & Adaptability - with an almost infinite variety of targets available to use we adapt to each individual or group to present them with targets appropriate to their level of ability. We aim to deliver a comprehensive introduction to clay shooting and what it can offer you, should you wish to pursue it further. For a typical 25 target session we will use 5 different targets incorporating different target speeds, distances and angles, for example - incoming, going away, crossing from the left, crossing from the right and along the floor.
We offer either a 25 or 50 clay "have a go" package. If you have not shot before, we recommend taking the 25 clay package. This will last for approximately 30 minutes for an individual booking, obviously taking a bit longer for bigger groups.
