Cockett Farm Shooting Ground
One of the Midland’s finest Clay Shooting venues
Safe gun handling, sound basic technique and proper gun fit are all fundamental to enjoying and achieving good scores at clay shooting. Those new to the sport should consider a few lessons as essential before purchasing their first shotgun or attempting to shoot unsupervised.
For those under our instruction and who do not have their own equipment, we are happy to supply everything required and have a selection of guns available, including smaller gauges, suitable for ladies and juniors.
The variety of targets available, from our Skeet and DTL ranges to the sporting and FITASC, can simulate the most testing situations that you will face either in the field or on the competitive clay circuit.
Whilst many clubs may have well meaning individuals that offer tuition, at Cockett Farm we firmly believe that there is no substitute for experience and that you need to have shot to a high level to have the ability to diagnose and rectify any issues correctly.
Cockett Farm is currently the only shooting ground in Nottinghamshire to employ a full time, instructor with International competitive experience. Peter Armett has shot for England, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire at Down the Line and has also represented Nottinghamshire at Sporting, FITASC and ABT. Peter is CPSA qualified and is available for individual tuition in all disciplines.
In addition to Peter, Roger Collingham, the ground owner, has many years experience as an instructor and has been a regular member of the Nottinghamshire county team, shooting Skeet, Sporting and FITASC, since the early 1980’s. As a keen game shooter, Roger also offers advice on game shooting etiquette and field safety.
